Do you already have a target market and a target niche? What do you enjoy writing, learning, talking about? Answering these questions will help you discover or uncover what your blog niche and target will be.
Finding a niche is an area when you first start out you may struggle with. It takes me awhile to come up with my focus because I want to do so much. My suggestion is to start off with the market you are catering to right now and to completely exhaust every avenue you can find to serve them. And of course an avenue is through blogging.
If you feel you have exhausted every means of serving your target and want to start something new then here is a list of potential areas that you can blog about. They are very general and you will have to uncover your primary focus within each one.
1. Motherhood
2. Children
3. Family
4. Crafts
5. Cars
6. Photography
7. Horses
8. Food/Cooking
9. Gardening
10. Pets
Now you want to fine tune your focus. After you fine tune your focus you want to find out if there is an actual market for your new found niche. To find out you would do a keyword research.

It is time to research your market. Just type in your potential keywords and see if there is a search and look at the search numbers on those specific keywords. Also, use a keyword thesauras to make sure the whole target keyword search is cover. The target market maybe looking for the same niche information, but under different terms. If you see that potential target marketers are searching for your keywords and niche, there is a great chance that you have found a wonderful niche.
Another tip is that when you have a keyword search of more than 2-3 keywords the potential target market is looking for something specific. They are looking more to find a blog or product that is going to solve a problem.
The next blog article is going to take this step to the next level.
